Kesha Hair Oil
“And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” – Kahlil Gibran.
The Ritual: Sit comfortably and set a beautiful intention. Take a dropper full of oil and apply directly on the scalp or use finger tips to apply oil to the scalp. Massage vigorously until all the scalp is doused in this potion. Apply the oil to the whole length of the hair all the way to the tips. Put the hair in a bun or simply leave it be and let the oil soak into the scalp and the hair nourishing it. Leave it for anywhere between an hour to couple of hours or overnight. Wash the hair with a mild shampoo and air dry. This is a weekly or biweekly ritual.
If the oil hardens up in the bottle due to cold temperatures (and it mostly always does in winters), warm the bottle by placing it in a pan of hot water until the oil melts. Or remove the dropper gently and pop the bottle only in the microwave for a minute until the oil melts. Warm oil feels nicer on the scalp on a cold day and is absorbed quicker.

The Benefits: Oiling the scalp regularly helps it stay hydrated and moisturized and prevents dandruff, itchiness and flaky skin. This ritual strengthens the hair from the root and protects natural oils from being stripped away while washing. The herbs used are supposed to stimulate the hair follicles to help them grow faster and strengthen the the roots and condition the hair to be softer and naturally healthy and boucing.
Ingredients: Every single herb and oil used in Kesha is sent by my parents living in India. They are sent in small batches every couple of months. The process used to extract the herbal properties is heat extraction. The herbs are added to melted coconut oil and simmered on low flame for 3-4 hours (sometimes more or less depending on the quantity) and set to coll to room temperature. The oil is then strained and bottled. You will sometimes find some sediment of the plant matter at the bottom. This is beneficial and nothing to be concerned about.
Contains Brahmi, Neem, Murraya Koenigii(Curry Leaves), Amla and Eucalyptus. Other ingredients include camphor, alkanet root, malkangani, sargava, kachora, bawachi, roses, lemongrass, sarisa.
The Earth folk life: Soak the empty bottle along with the dropper in hot water with couple of drops of dish soap. Rinse the bottle and set it to dry. The label is used is a paper label which is biodegradable and easily removable. Reuse the dropper bottle for various creative projects around your home.
